Propuesta de mejora del sistema de gestión de Seguridad y Salud Ocupacional en la empresa Coestibas S.A

Abstract

Coestibas S.A., una gran empresa logística-portuaria en Guayaquil, Ecuador, fue el foco de esta investigación, que fortaleció su sistema de seguridad y salud ocupacional (SST) para cumplir con el Acuerdo Ministerial 255-2020 y estándares internacionales como NFPA 101. La investigación, basada en auditorías trimestrales realizadas en 2025, identificó riesgos significativos, incluyendo incendios por almacenamiento inadecuado de combustibles, caídas desde alturas y contacto con desechos infecciosos, mediante herramientas como William T. Fine, NTP 330 y un cuestionario distribuido a 100 trabajadores operativos. Se propusieron soluciones como la instalación de 15 extintores certificados ($50 cada uno) y 20 detectores de humo ($1,000 en total), con un presupuesto de $17,750 y un cronograma de 18 meses. El plan de emergencia, respaldado por simulacros trimestrales y capacitaciones semestrales de 8 horas, aseguró preparación ante desastres, considerando riesgos operativos como actividad sísmica y sobrecarga en su infraestructura de 2,000 m² de terreno y 1,500 m² de construcción en hormigón.Organizado en cinco capítulos, el informe ofreció un análisis exhaustivo: el primero planteó el problema, definió el proyecto y estableció objetivos; el segundo describió el perfil organizacional de Coestibas S.A., incluyendo sus coordenadas (-2.1883556177349506, -78.89471995952981) y desafíos operativos; el tercero analizó riesgos y propuso medidas preventivas; el cuarto definió un plan de contingencia con recursos como botiquines y auditorías lideradas por Christian Alexander Reyes Melo, utilizando la lista de verificación SST 2025; y el quinto destacó la relevancia de consolidar una cultura de seguridad. Este trabajo proporcionó un marco práctico para grandes empresas del sector logístico-portuario en entornos de alto riesgo. Solutions such as the installation of 15 certified fire extinguishers ($50 each) and 20 smoke detectors ($1,000 total) were proposed, with a budget of $17,750 and an 18-month timeline. The emergency plan, supported by quarterly drills and eight-hour semiannual training sessions, ensured disaster preparedness, considering operational risks such as seismic activity and overloading of its 2,000 m² of land and 1,500 m² of concrete construction.Organized into five chapters, the report offered a comprehensive analysis: the first presented the problem, defined the project, and established objectives; the second described the organizational profile of Coestibas S.A., including its coordinates (-2.1883556177349506, -78.89471995952981) and operational challenges; the third analyzed risks and proposed preventive measures; the fourth defined a contingency plan with resources such as first-aid kits and audits led by Christian Alexander Reyes Melo, using the SST 2025 checklist; and the fifth highlighted the importance of consolidating a safety culture. This work provided a practical framework for large companies in the logistics and port sector in high-risk environments.
