| Abstract: | El transporte y comunicaciones se ha consolidado como un factor estratégico para mejorar la logística en Ecuador, especialmente frente a limitaciones geográficas y estructurales que afectan su competitividad internacional. Este estudio tiene como objetivo analizar el impacto de la inversión directa en estos sectores sobre el comercio ecuatoriano. Para ello, se aplicó un enfoque econométrico basado en la prueba de cointegración de Johansen y el Modelo de Correcciones de Error (MCE), utilizando series temporales anuales entre 2000 y 2022. Los resultados muestran una relación positiva y significativa a largo plazo entre las inversiones logísticas y el desempeño comercial del país. En particular, las comunicaciones presentan un mayor impacto relativo que el transporte. Se concluye que fortalecer la infraestructura logística, especialmente en tecnologías de la información, es clave para potenciar la competitividad comercial y orientar políticas públicas eficientes. |
| Description: | The transportation and communications have established itself as a strategic factor for improving logistics in Ecuador, especially in the face of geographic and structural constraints that affect its international competitiveness. This study aims to analyze the impact of direct investment in these sectors on Ecuadorian trade. To this end, an econometric approach based on the Johansen cointegration test, and the Error Correction Model (ECM) were applied, using annual time series between 2000 and 2022. The results show a positive and significant long-term relationship between logistics investments and the country's trade performance. Communications have a greater relative impact than transportation. It is concluded that strengthening logistics infrastructure, especially in information technology, is key to enhancing trade competitiveness and guiding efficient public policies. |
