Percepciones del parto domiciliario de mujeres atendidas por parteras certificadas en Otavalo 2021 – 2022

Abstract

Las parteras certificadas en el cantón Otavalo cumplen un valioso aporte a la comunidad, articulan los saberes ancestrales con los lineamientos del Ministerio de Salud Pública. Como agentes tradicionales de salud, ofrecen una atención de calidad y personalizado a las mujeres embarazadas que a ellas acuden, en el marco de su cultura, de sus saberes y prácticas ancestrales. El objetivo de este estudio es conocerlas percepciones del parto domiciliario de mujeres atendidas por parteras certificadas en Otavalo entre 2021-2022. Es un estudio cualitativo con entrevistas semiestructuradas con mujeres que fueron atendidas por parteras certificadas. Se indagó las motivaciones para elegir un parto en casa, con atención de partera, en lugar de un hospital con cuidado médico. En los resultados obtenidos se evidencia que, para las participantes en el estudio, el parto en casa es más cómodo y la atención de las parteras es de calidad, porque ellas están pendientes de su proceso de parto en todo momento. Se reconoce que el parto domiciliario atendido por parteras certificadas se caracteriza una relación personalizada y humanizada, por buen trato y un cuidado constante y continuo desde el inicio, durante y la culminación de la labor. Las mujeres participantes se ven motivadas a tener un parto domiciliario por influencia de su familia, de sus tradiciones y su cultura. Es importante que el Sistema Nacional de Salud desarrolle mejor comprensión y nuevas formas de articulación pues, el cuidado del parto por parteras tradicionales se mantiene presente y es de suma importancia para una sociedad intercultura. Certified midwives in the Otavalo canton make a valuable contribution to the community through their ability to join ancestral knowledge with the guidelines of the Ministry of Public Health. As agents of traditional health, they offer a quality and personalized service to pregnant women while working within the context of their culture, knowledge, and ancestral practices. The objective of this study is to know the perceptions of home births among women under the care of certified midwives in Otavalo during the 2021-2022 period. Through this qualitative study, interviews were conducted with women who were cared for by certified midwives. This study researched the women’s motives for choosing a home delivery under midwife care. The study results show that participants believe home delivery to more comfortable, and that the midwives provide quality attention due to their presence and attentiveness at all times of the birth process. A home birth attended by certified midwives is characterized by a personalized, humane relationship, good treatment, and consistent and continuous care from the beginning, middle and end of labor. Participating women are motivated to have a home birth due to the influence of their family, their traditions, and their culture. It is important that the National Health System develops a better understanding and new forms of uniting these practices, since childbirth care by traditional midwives remains present and is of the utmost importance for an intercultural society.
