Flower exports are one of the most important items in Ecuador’s trade balance. The purpose of this research is to study the impact of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) on the financial profitability of flower exporting companies. For this, the financial data of a sample of 145 companies from all over the country that reported their financial statements to the Superintendence of Companies, Securities, and Insurance in 2021 have been analyzed using the multiple linear regression methodology. The results shown that FDI has no relationship with the financial profitability obtained by the companies under study and that indicators such as size and debt have an inverse and significant relationship with financial performance whereas the equity debt and asset turnover have a positive and significant relationship. Findings from this study indicate that despite the FDI importance in an economy, there are some sectors that, due to the low level of FDI, have no impact on their activities. |
