Propuesta de Hospital Veterinario y Refugio Animal en la Ciudad de Loja

Abstract

La sobrepoblación canina y felina ha sido un problema latente de la ciudad de Loja, incluso convirtiéndose en parte del imaginario social, múltiples soluciones habían sido presentadas, una de ellas por parte del GAD municipal de la ciudad, la construcción de un refugio cuyas condiciones no promueven la calidad de habitabilidad de los animales rescatados y por ende la adopción. De esta manera, en esta tesis se propuso el diseño de un hospital y refugio para perros y gatos, donde se consideraron los criterios que fueron omitidos en la actual perrera municipal, tales como ergonomía animal, estrategias aplicadas en otros refugios exitosos y el principio de intimidad que estimula la interacción humano-animal. La propuesta se llevó a cabo en la periferia de la ciudad, desarrollada en un equipamiento que buscará albergar a la fauna urbana en situación de calle, en un espacio propicio para satisfacer sus necesidades y que les permita una nueva oportunidad de ser adoptados en hogares responsables, además de un área de atención médica destinada a los animales rescatados y mascotas de los ciudadanos, y un área de educación para el desarrollo de conferencias, talleres y charlas sobre la concientización de esta problemática, capacitaciones enfocadas en voluntariado, adiestramiento canino y cuidado animal. The canine and feline overpopulation has been a latent problem in the city of Loja, even becoming part of the social imaginary, multiple solutions had been presented, one of them by the municipal GAD of the city, the construction of a animal shelter whose conditions do not promote the quality of habitability of rescued animals and therefore adoption. In this way, in this thesis the design of a hospital and shelter for dogs and cats was proposed, where the criteria that were omitted in the current municipal kennel were considered, such as animal ergonomics, strategies applied in other successful shelters and the principle of intimacy that stimulates human-animal interaction. The project was carried out on the outskirts of the city, developed in a facility that will seek to house urban fauna living on the streets, in a space conducive to meeting their needs and allowing them a new opportunity to be adopted in responsible homes. In addition to a medical care area for rescued animals and citizen pets, and an education area for the development of conferences, workshops, and talks on raising awareness of this problem, training focused on volunteering, canine training, and animal care.
