Relación entre las actitudes ante el machismo y la incidencia de violencia en la pareja en una muestra de estudiantes en etapa de adultez emergente

Abstract

Since Ecuador is a country where there are high rates of intimate partner violence in all its forms, sexism can manifest itself in different ways, for example, in sexual roles or in the responsibility of managing the home. This research studies this issue in relation to the population of university women, for which the relationship between the variables of intimate partner violence and attitudes towards sexism, the presence of attitudes towards sexism, the percentage of physical, psychological and behavioral control violence and the consequences of intimate partner violence were evaluated. The sample consisted of 100 students in the stage of initial emerging adulthood (18-25 years old) of the International University of Ecuador. The research project is based on a cross-sectional, correlational and quantitative approach study. The instruments used were the Attitudes Toward Sexism Scale and the Index of Spouse Abuse Questionnaire in its Spanish version. The results showed a significant correlation between the variables. Siendo Ecuador un país en el que existen altos índices de violencia de pareja en todas sus modalidades, el machismo puede manifestarse en distintas formas, por ejemplo, en los roles sexuales o en la responsabilidad de la dirección del hogar. En la presente investigación se estudia esta temática en relación a la población de mujeres universitarias, para lo cual se evaluó la relación entre las variables de violencia en la pareja y actitudes frente al machismo, la presencia de actitudes frente al machismo, el porcentaje de violencia física, psicológica y de control de conductas y las consecuencias de la violencia en la pareja. La muestra fue conformada por 100 estudiantes en etapa de adultez emergente inicial (18- 25 años) de la Universidad Internacional del Ecuador. El proyecto de investigación se basa en un estudio transversal, correlacional y de enfoque cuantitativo. Se utilizaron los instrumentos Escala de Actitudes hacia el Machismo y el cuestionario Index of Spouse Abuse en su versión española. Los resultados arrojaron una correlación significativa entre las variables.
