Vacunación infantil, en el contexto de la Pandemia COVID-19, en el barrio San Luis, cantón Quito, año 2021 y primer semestre año 2022

Abstract

La vacunación infantil es una de las estrategias más eficaces de los sistemas de salud, en la prevención de enfermedades inmunoprevenibles, la pandemia de Covid-19 en el Ecuador, ha reducido el número de niños/as en general y de menores de 1 año, en particular, que no completan su esquema de vacunación, según reportes sistemáticos de la Organización Panamericana de la Salud (OPS/OMS. 2021), que incluyen BCG, ROTAVIRUS 2, NEUMOCOCO 3, PENTAVALENTE 3, SRP 1. Es claro que retrocesos en las coberturas de vacunación infantil generan potenciales riesgos de contagio y enfermedad. El presente estudio tiene como objetivo identificar y analizar los factores institucionales que han influido sobre la cobertura de vacunación en niños/as de 0 a 1 año de edad en el Barrio San Luis, Cantón Quito, año 2021 y primer semestre año 2022. Se trata de una investigación de tipo descriptiva, observacional y transversal, basada en la recolección de información de fuentes secundarias de los registros institucionales del centro de salud público del barrio San Luis, del universo de niños/as asignados a la unidad. Los resultados evidencian un marcado desabastecimiento de biológicos e insumos durante el año 2021, superado parcialmente en el primer semestre del año 2022. La falta o insuficiencia de biológicos determina reducidas coberturas en 2021, que se recuperan parcialmente en el primer semestre de 2022, según los resultados obtenidos en el estudio. Se recomienda actividades planificadas de vacunación, con proyección extramural, para recuperar y mantener coberturas útiles de vacunación infantil, y de esta manera prevenir que reaparezcan las enfermedades inmunoprevenibles. It is clear that setbacks in childhood vaccination coverage generate potential risks of contagion and disease. This study aims to identify and analyze the institutional factors that have influenced vaccination coverage in children from 0 to 1 year of age in the San Luis neighborhood, Chillogallo parish, Quito canton, year 2021 and first semester year 2022. This is a descriptive, observational and cross-sectional research, based on the collection of information from secondary sources of the institutional records of the public health center of the San Luis neighborhood, the universe of children assigned to the unit. The results show a marked shortage of biological and inputs during the year 2021, partially exceeded in the first half of 2022. The lack or insufficiency of biological determines reduced coverage in 2021, which partially recovers in the 1st half of 2022, according to the results obtained in the study. It recommends planned vaccination activities, with extramural projection, to recover and maintain useful coverage of childhood vaccination, and thus prevent the recurrence of immunopreventable diseases.
