Transición de OHSAS 18001 a ISO 45001 en la empresa kluane drilling Ecuador S.A

Abstract

Kluane Drilling es una empresa ecuatoriana perteneciente a un grupo multinacional de origen canadiense que brinda servicios de perforación en diamantina, es de interés encontrarse a la vanguardia en los cambios de normativa que ayude a mejorar los procesos internos y externos, siendo así que la transición entre las OHSAS 18001 (obtenido en el año 2019) y las ISO 45001 no podía ser la excepción. El presente artículo busca difundir los resultados de los hallazgos sobre la transición de OHSAS 18001 a ISO 45001 en KDE. Se ha usado el método exploratorio, cuantitativo, y la técnica de entrevista para recabar información. Hay que entender que la transición entre las normas no se trata de un reemplazo, sino de un complemento, pero abordando diferentes aspectos, en el caso de las OHSAS 18001 permite establecer estándares de seguridad en el trabajo y las ISO por su parte contienen modificaciones y actualizaciones que aportan a la salud y seguridad en el trabajo considerando los temas de riesgo enfocados en la “prevención”, es así que en el caso estudiado en la empresa KDE se ha enfocado en la prevención de riesgos en los temas de salud y seguridad en el trabajo con la participación de la alta gerencia y el personal multidisciplinario que posee. Entre las principales conclusiones a las que se llega son: KDE ha aumentado sus licitaciones en el transcurso de los años con el cambio de normativa entre OHSAS e ISO, y ha disminuido los índices de accidentalidad. KDE apunta a que en el 2021 se mejoren sus indicadores de gestión con base a la prevención de peligros y riesgos en la seguridad y salud en el trabajo. KDE cuenta con auditores internos certificados en ISO 45001-2018.Resultados similares fueron encontrados en el estudio realizado por Yang y Maresova (2020) quienes encontraron que la adopción de un estándar de seguridad incide positivamente en el desempeño financiero y ganancias de 125 empresas chinas. De igual forma Hernández, et al. (2019) encontraron en su estudio con 247 empresas portuguesas que habían asumido distintas certificaciones, entre ellas la OHSAS 18001, que dichos procesos inciden positivamente en el desempeño y dinámicas organizacionales.Kluane Drilling is an Ecuadorian company belonging to a multinational group of Canadian origin that provides drilling services in diamond, it is of interest to be at the forefront in the changes of regulations that help improve internal and external processes, thus being the transition between OHSAS 18001 (obtained in 2019) and ISO 45001 could not be the exception. This article seeks to disseminate the results of the findings on the transition from OHSAS 18001 to ISO 45001 in KDE. The exploratory, quantitative method and the interview technique have been used to gather information. It must be understood that the transition between the standards is not about a replacement, but a complement, but addressing different aspects, in the case of OHSAS 18001 it allows establishing safety standards at work and the ISO for its part contain modifications and updates that contribute to health and safety at work considering risk issues focused on "prevention", so in the case studied in the company KDE has focused on risk prevention in health and safety issues in work with the participation of senior management and the multidisciplinary staff it has. Among the main conclusions reached are: KDE has increased its tenders over the years with the change in regulations between OHSAS and ISO, and has decreased accident rates. KDE aims to improve its management indicators in 2021 based on the prevention of dangers and risks in safety and health at work. KDE has internal auditors certified in ISO 45001-2018. Similar results were found in the study carried out by Yang and Maresova (2020) who found that the adoption of a security standard positively affects the financial performance and profits of 125 Chinese companies. Similarly, Hernández, et al. (2019) found in their study with 247 Portuguese companies that had assumed different certifications, including OHSAS 18001, that these processes positively affect organizational performance and dynamics.
