Abstract: Resumen Ejecutivo La presente investigación se llevó a cabo en una institución financiera de la provincia de Imbabura – Ecuador, con la finalidad de determinar si existe relación entre el liderazgo y las generaciones presentes en la empresa, conocer si el estilo de liderazgo debe adaptarse a las características de cada generación y si las diferencias de éstas generaciones influyen en su comportamiento y la preferencia o percepción sobre sus líderes. El nivel de estudio que se aplicó fue descriptivo para identificar cuáles son los tipos de liderazgo que influyen en los grupos generacionales presentes en la entidad financiera, complementándose con un estudio correlacional para determinar el grado de relación que existe entre estas dos variables. La modalidad de investigación fue de campo y para la obtención de información se aplicó como instrumento el cuestionario de Liderazgo Multifactorial MLQ, el análisis de los datos fue procesado mediante el sistema estadístico SPSS versión 25. La investigación arrojó como principales resultados: (1) el liderazgo que predomina en la entidad financiera es el liderazgo transformacional; (2) la generación que prevalece es la Millennial; (3) no existe relación entre el tipo de liderazgo y las generaciones, independientemente de la generación a la que pertenecía el personal, la preferencia se concentró en el liderazgo transformacional; y (4) el tipo de liderazgo predominante consigue en el personal resultados basados en efectividad, satisfacción y esfuerzo extra, sin relacionar la generación a la que pertenecen; es decir que, con los comportamientos identificados en el líder, se obtiene respuesta de las dos generaciones presentes en las agencias. Abstract The present investigative work was carried out in a financial institution in the province of Imbabura - Ecuador, in order to determine if there is a relationship between leadership and present generations in the company; in addition, to know if the leadership style must adapt to the characteristics of each generation and if the differences of these generations influence their behavior and the preference or perception of their leaders. The level of study that was applied was the "descriptive" one, to identify what are the types of leadership that influence the generational groups present in the financial institution, complemented with a correlational study to determine the degree of relationship that exists between these two variables. The research modality was field, and to obtain information, the Multifactorial Leadership Questionnaire (MLQ) was applied as an instrument, the analysis of data obtained was processed using the statistical system "SPSS - version 25". The research showed, as the main results: (1) the leadership that predominates in the financial institution is “transformational leadership”; (2) the generation that prevails is the “millennial”; (3) there is no relationship between the type of leadership and the generations, regardless of the generation to which the staff belonged, the preference was concentrated on transformational leadership; and (4) the predominant type of leadership achieves in the personnel results based on effectiveness, satisfaction and extra effort, without relating the generation to which they belong; In other words, with the behaviors identified in the leader, a response is obtained from the two present generations in the agencies.
