The study presented below focuses on a comprehensive evaluation of criminalistics applied to a real case of intentional homicide using a firearm. The investigation is based on three essential areas: forensic medicine, forensic ballistics, and audio and video analysis. Forensic medicine identifies the cause of death and the nature of the injuries; forensic ballistics helps reconstruct the sequence of the shooting and the connection between the weapon and the projectile; finally, the audio and video analysis (conducted using a DVR system) ensures the validity of the digital evidence and the sequence of events. The findings highlight the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in providing conclusive scientific evidence within the Ecuadorian judicial system. |
