Tratamiento integral: quirúrgico y prostodóntico en un paciente con osteoporosis.

Abstract

Antiguamente se observaban los dientes como elementos aislados e independientes, sin embargo hoy se sabe que forman parte de un sistema estomatognático completo, que a su vez se interrelaciona con otros sistemas del cuerpo. En la actualidad, una Odontología integral tiene la importante función de cumplir y mantener en las mejores condiciones el aparato estomatognático de cada paciente. El presente trabajo es el reporte de un caso clínico de un paciente de 74 años de edad que acude a la consulta odontológica aquejada de ciertas alteraciones que se han venido presentando. Se le realizó una completa historia clínica, en el cual nos supo indicar que sistémicamente padece de osteoporosis y en boca presentaba edentulismo total en mandíbula y presencia de focos infecciosos en maxilar superior, lo cual nos condujo a un diagnóstico final, junto con el planteamiento de varias alternativas de tratamiento; el paciente estuvo de acuerdo y se decidió realizar una rehabilitación integral mediante prótesis totales inmediatas , la cual constituye una alternativa de tratamiento cuando los dientes remanentes se encuentran en mal estado y su pronóstico es desfavorable, una vez confeccionada la prótesis se realizaron las extracciones de los dientes remanentes y se colocó al instante la dentadura total inmediata...
