Rehabilitación oral en un paciente geriátrico

Abstract

El tratamiento a pacientes geriátricos implica la integración de conocimientos, debido a que se observan varios aspectos los cuales afectan su bienestar tanto de manera funcional como emocional, por esto es importante realizar un tratamiento en el cual se tomen en cuenta factores que influyen o influyeron en alguna etapa de su vida y de esta manera no solo mejorar su Sistema estomatognático sino buscar una mejoría en la autoestima del paciente y brindarle la confianza que él está buscando. Este reporte de caso clínico pretende dar a conocer el tratamiento de rehabilitación oral a una paciente de 82 años de edad, la cual refería inconformidad estética y funcional, una baja autoestima producto del problema estético por la falta de sus dientes y sumado a esto el antecedente de un cáncer mamario hace 14 años. Tras una complete historia clínica y la evaluación diagnóstica se le propuso a la paciente un tratamiento acorde a su situación económica y se determinó así la elaboración de prótesis totales superior e inferior. Las prótesis fueron colocadas luego de una correcta realización dando el resultado esperado y sobre todo adaptándose a los tejidos y devolviendo las funciones masticatoria, fonética y estética.

The treatment of geriatric patients implies the integration of knowledge, due to the fact that are observed several aspects which affect his well-being both functional and emotional way. For this it´s important to perform a treatment that gives importance to the factors that influence or influenced at some stage of their life and in this way you will not only improve their Stomatognathic system also to look for an improvement in the patient's self-esteem and offer it the confidence for that she is looking.This clinical case report seeks to highlight the treatment of oral rehabilitation to an 82-year-old patient, who had aesthetic and functional discomfort, a low self-esteem product of the aesthetic problem due to the lack of teeth and added to thisthe inconvenience of a breast cancer 14 years ago. After a complete clinical history and the diagnostic evaluation, was proposed to the patient a treatment according to their economic situation and was determined the development of upper and lower total prosthesis. The prosthesis were placed after a successful implementation giving the expected result and especially adapted to the tissues and returning the masticatory, phonetics and aesthetics functions.
