With the natural aging, the physical abilities or abilities that are important for the normal (standard) development of the human being are lost. Other reasons such as accidents, pollution factors, wars, etc. Also cause that loss, sometimes instantaneously. In both cases, a deficiency in the human condition can be generated that if it is not controlled can lead to a disability and if this is not taken care of in disability. The overall objective of this final-degree project is the architectural design of a physical rehabilitation center for social integration. It is a design exercise in a real space: the Macará Canton, located in the south of Ecuador, on the border with Peru. The problem was studied with a brief review of the Ecuadorian health system, followed by the qualitative research method (through interviews) to measure the deficit in the quality of care. The activities that were proposed for this space were the medical rehabilitation and the physical therapy, with its variants that were mentioned in section 3.3. The universal design criteria were considered as an added value to the design. The well-known expression "form follows function" is discussed and how it can be controversial when it comes to certain architectures that pay more attention to "form" than to "function."...
