El Hospital Básico de Vilcabamba se concibe como un equipamiento con un alto impacto para las parroquias del sector suroriental del cantón Loja, no obstante, el desgaste físico del equipamiento y sus limitaciones funcionales reducen la capacidad de respuesta a la demanda sanitaria actual y futura.
