potencial crecimiento. The present investigation tries to relate the new upcoming virtual currencies with the socio-economic environment in South America. It is undeniable that the whole finance system is ongoing a digital transformation and it is possible that in a few years all the currencies become electronic. However, is South America prepared to adapt to this virtual trend? To begin with, in the second chapter, the Bitcoin (most important virtual coin worldwide) is introduced. The investigation covers its beginnings, way of work, the mathematical equation that backs it up and it predicts its future. At the same time, it is explained that the Bitcoin, also kwon as cryptocurrency, works as a traditional coin, similar to dollars, euros or yens. However, it has the advantage of being free of any regulation entity that could willingly manipulate its market price. Bitcoin’s value is determined by the invisible forces of supply and demand. In addition, it is detailed that the cryptocurrency is backed up by very complex math equations that can be compared to the prime numbers and an unusual phenomenon called “mathematical black hole”. Also, in this chapter Bitcoin’s actuality in South America will be analyzed, and its participation in the foreign exchange market. |
