Rehabilitación funcional y estética en un paciente adulto con desgaste incisal generalizado por pérdida dental posterior

Abstract

El presente trabajo busca desarrollar una solución integral a los problemas producidos por pérdida dental posterior a temprana edad, desgaste incisal generalizado, diastemas en el sector anterior superior, dientes extruidos y oclusión defectuosa. Asociando así a una pérdida de función y estética de la cavidad oral. Las molestias y limitaciones al comer que conlleva la pérdida de dientes, así como el impacto en las actividades diarias, en la apariencia y en las relaciones sociales se traduce en discapacidad y contribuyen a la presencia de depresión y por ende de una calidad de vida negativa. (Hernández, 2008). Se ha visto la necesidad de rehabilitar el sistema masticatorio como un todo, devolviendo una oclusión balanceada unilateral, guía canina, función de grupo llegando así a una oclusión equilibrada. Los métodos utilizados fueron: observacional, realizando un tratamiento protésico en el transcurso de seis meses; clínico, al haber utilizado diferentes técnicas y procedimientos basados en hechos científicos; prospectivo, al haber determinado un diagnóstico y plan de tratamiento en base a un cronograma; longitudinal, conforme avanzaba el tratamiento los objetivos planteados se convirtieron en un hecho. Los beneficios de realizar dicho tratamiento fueron devolver seguridad y confianza al paciente para sonreír e interactuar con la gente, permitió realizar una masticación uniforme devolviendo la función específica a cada uno de los dientes presentes en boca. Los resultados obtenidos fueron satisfactorios tanto para el paciente como para el estudiante tratante ya que se cumplieron con las expectativas planteadas junto con la colaboración del tutor asignado.

The present work seeks to develop an integral solution to the problems produced by dental loss after an early age, generalized incisal wear, diastema in the upper anterior sector, extruded teeth and defective occlusion. Thus associating a loss of function and aesthetics of the oral cavity. The discomfort and limitations in eating that entails the loss of teeth, as well as the impact on daily activities, appearance and social relationships, translate into disability and are factors that contribute to the presence of depression and therefore of a negative quality of life. (Hernández, 2008). There has been a need to rehabilitate the masticatory system as a whole, restoring a unilateral balanced occlusion, canine guidance, group function, thus achieving a balanced occlusion. The methods used were: observational, performing a prosthetic treatment in the course of six months; clinical, using different techniques and procedures based on scientific facts; prospective, having determined a diagnosis and treatment plan based on a schedule; longitudinal, as the treatment progressed, the stated objectives became a fact. The benefits of performing such treatment were to restore confidence and confidence to the patient to smile and interact with people, allowed to perform a uniform chewing by returning the specific function to each of the teeth present in the mouth. The results obtained were satisfactory for both the patient and the treating student as they were fulfilled with the expectations raised together with the collaboration of the assigned tutor.
