BIBLIOTECA QUITUMBE “A partir del concepto de nueva centralidad”

Abstract

La nueva centralidad plantea la generación de nuevos ejes urbanos que dinamizan la ciudad y proponen una densificación de esta (PMDOT, 2015). En este sentido, este proyecto plantea el diseño de una biblioteca ubicada en el sur de Quito, en el sector de Quitumbe. Esta parroquia de Quito tiene el 13,50% de la población del área urbana de la ciudad, distribuida en 400 barrios aproximadamente (OLMEDO, 2016) y posee un plan territorial desde el 2001, mismo que se replanteó en el 2015. La generación del nuevo equipamiento de esta infraestructura en este espacio aspira generar un nuevo eje urbano relacionado al aprendizaje y al conocimiento, pues la biblioteca responde al ámbito de la educación y la cultura dentro de la sociedad. Esta infraestructura permite generar inquietud en la sociedad que la rodea sobre la lectura, el conocimiento, la ciencia y la cultura dentro de un contexto social desvinculado a estas disciplinas. El filósofo Sócrates nos recuerda la importancia de generar este tipo de espacios en su frase histórica “el conocimiento os hará libres” que hace referencia al conocimiento del todo que nos conduce a una evolución, a ser consciente de la realidad en la que vivimos que es el primer paso hacia la libertad individual y, por tanto, colectiva (Ariapsa, 2020). Es así como la infraestructura, motivo de este trabajo generará conciencia de que la lectura y el conocimiento es el punto de partida para una sociedad competitiva y consolidada a través de elementos urbano-arquitectónicos que funcionarán como conectores sociales, contribuyendo a mejorar las condiciones de vida del usuario en este espacio. A partir del análisis cuantitativo del plan, se pudo demostrar que Quitumbe no posee equipamientos de las características antes mencionadas, por lo tanto, insertar una nueva biblioteca como nueva centralidad de carácter público será un aporte para la consolidación social en el sector, además de promover el uso multimodal que es muy monótono en el sector y carente de equipamientos.The new centrality proposes the generation of new urban axes that energize the city and propose a densification of it (PMDOT, 2015). In this sense, this project proposes the design of a library located in the south of Quito, in the sector of Quitumbe. This parish of Quito has 13.50% of the population of the urban area of the city, distributed in 400 neighborhoods approximately (OLMEDO, 2016) and has a territorial plan since 2001, which was reconsidered in 2015. The generation of the new equipment of this infrastructure in this space aspires to generate a new urban axis related to learning and knowledge, because the library responds to the field of education and culture within society. This infrastructure makes it possible to generate concern in the society that surrounds it about reading, knowledge, science and culture within a social context detached from these disciplines. The philosopher Socrates reminds us of the importance of generating such spaces in his historical phrase "knowledge will set you free" which refers to the knowledge of the whole that leads us to an evolution, to be aware of the reality in which we live which is the first step towards individual and therefore collective freedom (Ariapsa, 2020). This is how the infrastructure of this work will generate awareness that reading and knowledge is the starting point for a competitive and consolidated society through urban-architectural elements that will function as social connectors, contributing to improving user living conditions in this space. From the quantitative analysis of the plan, it was possible to demonstrate that Quitumbe does not possess equipment of the aforementioned characteristics, therefore, inserting a new library as a new centrality of public character will be a contribution to the social consolidation in the sector, in addition to promoting multimodal use which is very monotonous in the sector and lacking in equipment.
