Prótesis total en un paciente diabético controlado

Abstract

Los pacientes diabéticos tipo 2 padecen diferentes manifestaciones bucales cuando no existe un adecuado control de la enfermedad y una mala higiene de la cavidad oral. En la consulta odontológica, el manejo y control de pacientes diabéticos antes, durante y después del tratamiento es importante. Su rehabilitación oral resulta imprescindible para lograr elevar y mejorar su calidad de vida pues les proporciona beneficios funcionales y estéticos como: restitución de la capacidad masticatoria, optimización de la digestión, claridad en su expresión y comunicación oral además de la consecuente mejoría en el aspecto físico. Para el presente caso clínico, nos enfocamos en un paciente diabético tipo 2 que se presenta a consulta y a quien se le procede a confeccionar una prótesis inmediata postextracción de los dientes 1.5, 1.6 y un resto radicular 1.4; luego de seis meses se realiza una prótesis total convencional en el maxilar superior. Se logra el éxito total al alcanzarlos objetivos planteados a través de la rehabilitación oral al colocar una prótesis inmediata como primer paso para luego del remodelado óseo confeccionar la prótesis total definitiva se consiguió devolver al paciente la función masticatoria y una condición estética óptima.

Type 2 diabetic patients suffering from different oral manifestations in the absence of adequate control of their disease. In the dental office, the management and control of diabetic patients - before, during and after treatment - is important. Their oral rehabilitation is essential to achieve increase and improvement in their quality of life as it provides functional and aesthetic benefits like the following: restoration on the chewing ability, optimization on digestion, clarity on their oral expression and communication; in addition to the consequent improvement in their physical appearance. For the present research case, we focus on a type 2 diabetic patient who goes to consultation and therefore we proceed to create an immediate denture post-extraction of teeth: 1.5, 1.6 and a residual roots; later - after six months - a conventional total denture is made in the upper jaw. Total success is gotten at achieving the already set objectives because as result of oral rehabilitation through placing an immediate denture as a first step and then after the bone remodeling go to the placement of the denture complete, we got to restore the patient's masticatory function and her optimal cosmetic condition.
