Diseño de un centro ambulatorio terapéutico especializado en trastornos esquizofrénicos en el barrio Jardín del Valle - Quito

Abstract

En el Distrito Metropolitano de Quito, los espacios hospitalarios destinados a la atención psiquiátrica se han ubicado en zonas periféricas y alejadas de los centros urbanos. Esta concepción de emplazarlos fuera de la urbe la tenemos adquirida siglos atrás el primer manicomio construido en tiempos de la colonia como es el San Lázaro; estas preconcepciones nos permiten hacer un cuestionamiento del diseño, infraestructura, emplazamiento, condiciones espaciales, funciones y programa arquitectónico; así como las condiciones sociales que se enmarcan en el mismo. En la actualidad, se mantiene esta tipología en centros como el Hospital Público Psiquiátrico Julio Endara, Hospital Psiquiátrico Sagrados Corazones y otros más. En base a estas premisas, este documento busca entender e interpretar como el usuario con trastorno mental percibe, vive y usa el espacio. El proyecto se enmarca en generar un centro de atención especializada en el tratado de la esquizofrenia, es una postura humanitaria basada en el bienestar del paciente y su familia como el principal eje de atención. Es así como se define posteriormente los parámetros de diseño y sensaciones que se quiere proyectar como arquitecto en una infraestructura médica; en la que se considera que el paciente debe recibir un tratamiento integral que consiste en cubrir todas sus necesidades médicas, físicas y mentales para mejorar su estancia y tratamiento mental.

In the Metropolitan District of Quito, the hospital spaces destined to psychiatric care have been located in peripheral areas and far from the urban centers. This conception of placing them outside the city; we have acquired centuries ago with the creation of the first asylum built in times of the colony; known as San Lazaro madhouse, these preconceptions allow us to question the design, infrastructure, location, spatial conditions, functions and architectural program; as well as the social conditions that are framed in it. At present, this typology is maintained in actual mental centers such as the Julio Endara Psychiatric Public Hospital, Sacred Heart Psychiatric Hospital and others. Based on these premises, this document seeks to understand and interpret how the user with mental disorder perceives, lives and uses the space. The project is framed in generating a center of specialized attention in the treatise of schizophrenia as a humanitarian posture based on the wellbeing of the patient and his family whom is the main axis of care. Lately, this is how the design parameters and sensations thought with the view of an architect in a medical infrastructure are defined; in which it is considered that the patient should receive a comprehensive treatment that consists of covering all their medical, physical and mental needs to improve their stay and mental treatment.
