This article focuses on the analysis of those fuels derived from alternative sources, in this case specific Ethanol, known in Ecuador as fuel ECOPAIS E5 (5% ethanol, 95% gasoline). This fuel has been implemented as a pilot project in the provinces of Manabí and Guayas, where vehicles work at low altitude ranges (less than 500 meters above sea level). Because in a determined period of time, the ECOPAIS fuel is projected to be used in all the provinces of Ecuador, different tests will be carried out, which will be carried out at 2800 meters above sea level, this being an established value as average standard of work in the Sierra region. The main objective of this study is to determine the performance, power and static CO emissions in a Ford F 150 / 3.7L Ti-VCT V6 engine from 2013, using 87% octane fuel and ECOPAIS. To check these values, static tests will be performed, such as the use of a dynamometer to verify the performance ranges and a gas analyzer for static emissions. Based on the tests carried out, it has been concluded that the efficiency of the ECOPAIS fuel has not exceeded the extra, one of the reasons why this happens is the low percentage of ethanol present in the ECOPAIS mixture.
